Spellbinders 2015 Summer Road Trip Partner Hop

Welcome to the Spellbinders Summer Road Trip Partner Hop!  Xyron is partnering with Spellbinders for a fun and inspiring blog hop. The blog hop dates are Monday, June 29 – July 1st. There are 11 Partner Companies participating, 3 days of awesome tutorials and plenty of product giveaways too! This is day 2 and there is still many opportunities to get inspired as you hop from blog to blog over the course of the hop. The theme for this hop is “Road Trip.” Spellbinders sent me 2 beautiful Sapphire sets to play with, the Numbers and Letters and the Mini Fancy Tags Two dies. The Numbers and Letters set was perfect to use on this waterfall album that I created. Take a peek at my tutorial below:
 Road Trip Waterfall Album

2 Paper Bags (6 1/8 X 12 ½)
Bone Folder
Patterned Paper (Various coordinating papers) Trimmed to size of bags
Coordinating Cardstock
Star Pins
Bulldog clips
Circle Punch (1 1/2)
3D Tape
Hot Glue

Step 1: Fold 1st bag and score at crease. Note: This will create the front and back cover to the album. Set aside.

Step 2: Fold 2nd bag over, leaving an inch to an inch and a half on right side of bag.
Step 3: Place 2nd bag in between the front and back cover of 1st bag. Note: This creates a waterfall effect when both bags are combined.  You may have to adjust your folds to accommodate even spaces between the pages.

Step 4: Using the Mega Runner, apply adhesive to the inside and side flaps of the pages. Note: The goal is to have flat pages and no openings on the top and bottom of the bags or between flaps. Leave all insert areas of the bags open/un-adhered. They will be used as pocket options.

Step 5: Clip the bags together using bulldog clips and open album to inside back cover and facing page.

Step 6: Run patterned paper through the New Xyron Creative Station and adhere to inside back cover and facing page, pages 5 and 6. Note: Your paper bag size may vary. Adjust your patterned paper accordingly. It may be necessary to add 2 pieces to fully cover the pages.  I used two pieces for these pages. This step will bind the album and you no longer have 2 separate bags.
Step 7: Continue adhering patterned papers to pages 3-4 and 1-2. Refer step 6.

Step 8:  Turn album over. Run patterned paper through the New Creative Station and adhere to back and front cover.

Step 9: Cut strips of patterned paper to reinforce spine and right side of front cover. Run papers through the New Creative Station and adhere. Note: The base of the waterfall book has been completed.

Step 10: Using a 1 ½ circle punch, punch half circle punch out of the page 2 and 6 creating an access point into the pocket. Trim coordinating cardstock to fit both pockets and insert.

Step 11: Add patterned paper strips and stickers to front cover and inside pages as desired.

Step 12: Wrap ribbon around front cover and adhere on inside cover. Set aside.

Step 13: Using cardstock, the Grand Calibur and Sapphire Letters & Numbers Dies, die cut letters and numbers.

Step 14: Run letters and numbers through the 1.5 inch Xyron Sticker Maker and adhere to cardstock. Apply to album with 3D tape.

Step 15: Add additional stickers, bows and star pins to album.

Step 16: Run mats through the New Creative Station and adhere to page within the album.

Step 17: Continue adding stickers, mats and embellishments throughout album as desired.

Xyron and Simple Stories Summer Vibes Album Tutorial

Hi there,
Xyron has partnered with Simple Stories this month to show and share how well the products of both companies compliment each other. I received a beautiful Simple Stories paper collection to play with called, Summer Vibes.  The patterns within the collection are so yummy and fun to create with.  Today, I am sharing a sweet little mini album I created using the collection. I love how this album came together. It’s absolutely perfect for this summer.
Take a peek at my tutorial below.

Simple Stories: Summer Vibes Collection
Xyron: New Creative Station, 3” Sticker Maker
Corrugated Board (4): 6 x 6
Foam Brush
Cinch/Binding Tool & Coils
Distressing Tool
3D Tape
Binding clip

Step 1: Distress 2 pieces of corrugated board and apply gesso using foam brush. Let dry.

Step 2: Trim patterned paper to 4 ½ x 6 and 4 x 6, distress with distressing tool and run through the New Creative Station.

Step 3: Adhere the layers together and then adhere to 1 gesso’d corrugated board. Note: This will create the front cover.

Step 4: Trim patterned papers to 6 X 6 and run through the New Creative Station and adhere to back of front cover.  Repeat step for back cover.

Step 5: Decide which papers and mats to add to additional pages of the mini album to create the base of the album. Trim papers down to 6 X 6 and distress all patterned papers using a distressing tool.

Step 6: Using a binding tool, punch holes in pages and use coils to bind the album. Note: I added mats, additional corrugated board, and printed transparencies as pages to give this mini more fun and textural elements. For insert that are odd sized, use a binding to clip to keep them straight as you punch holes.

Step 7: Using the 3” Sticker Maker, apply adhesive to smaller Summer Vibes die cuts and adhere to front cover.

Step 8: Run Summer Vibes die cuts through the New Creative Station and adhere to the front cover.

Step 9: Continue building the front cover with stickers from the collection. Note: I used 3D tape to pop up some elements of the cover. Add patterned papers and stickers throughout the mini album.

Step 10:  Add ribbons and charms to the coils. Continue embellishing the album as desired.
