Sweet little bookmark...

Hi there,

I recently created some projects for Kuretake using some great ZIG products. One of them was a  bookmark with ta Fairy Tale theme and I wanted to share it with you.

I used ZIG Brushables on the image and vintage photo ink on the embossed background. I like the water effect the Brushables created on the image. I really love sweet little projects like this. They make nice little gifts and are perfect for those that love a good book...:)

Destiny Journal

Hi there,

This was one of the most fun projects that I created for Scrapbook News & Review.

Destiny Journal by Karen Jiles Supplies Cardstock: Gina K Designs; Metal embellishments: Advantus; Hemp, Embossing powder: Close to My Heart; Stamps: Stampers Anonymous; Ink: Ranger, Tsukineko; Mists: Tattered Angels; Coils: We R Memory Keepers

I have had Ranger Distress Stains for some time and thoroughly enjoy them. Combining the stains with embossing powder to create a resist effect is so much fun. The effect can be used as a background or the focal piece. The options are endless and the final product can be very rewarding.

Shabby Chic Baby Album

Hi there,

I had an opportunity to create this little album to hold some sweet sepia pool pics of the girls. It was so  much fun to make.  I absolutely love the texture throughout the cover. The inks that I used are by Lindy's Stamp Gang. I love the subtle effects of them on my projects.

If you like this project, you will enjoy an upcoming tutorial featured in Scrapbook News & Review. In the tutorial, I share how to achieve layers of texture with easy to follow steps and with widely accessible materials.

For My Friend...

Hi there,

I am sharing this card that was previously featured in Scrapbook News & Review Magazine.  It is titled," For my friend."  I love the card. The theme was to alter an embellishment. I altered the  button by added some gesso to it and stamping a pattern on top using Momento brown ink.  The effect was great.  To help tie in the pattern, I also stamped the pattern on the olive green cardstock layer. Sometimes it's the little details that make all the difference.

For my friend... by Karen Jiles Supplies Cardstock: Stampin Up; Patterned Paper: K & Co; Hemp: Close to My Heart; Buttons: Foofala; Pins: Maya Roads; Stamps: Close to My Heart, Stampin Up!; Ink: Tsukineko; Gesso: Faber-Castell; Other: Ribbon

Mixed Media Journal Project

Hi there,

Today, I am sharing some journal pages that I created while playing a couple of weeks ago.  Sometimes you really have to play a little to clear your head for the next task...:)

I love mixed media projects because they give me an opportunity to create without limits. There is no right or wrong way to complete it- purely a personal reflection and expression. This journal is another creative window for me.

Dance Journal Pages 1 & 2 by Karen Jiles Supplies Journal: Donna Downey; Stamp: Penny Black; Ink, Sprays: Ranger; Markers, Gels: Faber Castell; Modeling paste: Golden; Gesso: Liquitex; Stencils: The Crafters Workshop; Other: text

The base journal book was one that I picked up from Donna Downey's studio last year some time.  I had it tucked away for a special occasion. I love the book because it has several tags in between the journal pages, which adds some variety to creative process.

I used  several layers of mod podge. I wanted the pages to be stiff and able to hold the layers of ink and modeling paste that I wanted to add.  I also used gesso, text papers, stencils, gelatos, dylusions ink sprays, big brush markers, photo vintage ink and stamps.

This was so much fun and well worth the creative love put into it.
